
Dr. Diskin is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), a Past-President of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP) and Past-Chief and Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is currently Vice President and Global Chief Medical Officer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, a Voluntary Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and sits on the Medical-Legal Committee of the American College of Emergency Medicine (ACEP). He was also Chair of the Section on Cruise Ship and Maritime Medicine of ACEP from 2006-2008. Dr. Diskin is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and an Examiner for the oral portion of said Board since 1985.
From 1983-2005, Dr. Diskin ran a large physician group staffing up to seven emergency departments and was responsible for all insurance and risk management issues. In 1998, Dr. Diskin, as Chairman of Emergency Medicine, was privileged to assist in starting an Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Diskin’s extensive background in clinical medicine, risk management and patient safety, teaching and administration makes him well-suited for EMPAC’s Board of Directors. He attended college and medical school at the University of Miami and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County Medical Center/University of Southern California.
